Why don't you just vote on groups of eight matches until the second round? That'd work better than now, you reduce posibilities of useless fights and/or posts. Then you slow down to 4 matches per group on eight-of-finals and then to 2 on quarter-finals. I don't see the point of taking 32 updates to finish 1st round when you can easily simplify it to only 4.
