Her sound, image, and accomplishments have transcended the realm of pop music. Well said. I also felt that Katy Perry is continuously being shoved down people's throats, but she's not impacting as huge as say, Spears or Gaga. That's not to say she's unsuccessful - she is. But I question her longevity.
My recluse Dad, my old college professors (recluses too), know who Lady Gaga is. They kinda know Britney Spears and such. I don't think they know Katy Perry.
I love this girl like crazy, but I just can't understand how so many other artists with just as much potential as her weren't given the same platforms to launch their careers on.
