This was asking for a stan war...however...as a bey stan i can honestly say the Queen has nothing to be worried about...most of us like Gaga but at the same time we kno she overexposed and overworked to the point where something will give eventually, not wishing anything bad on her but within her next 2 albums she will suffer a loss of sales either because she did something too experimental or because she's producing the same material...

however we'll see who wins the next war because both of these women are coming with albums around the same time

yes today she is the biggest popstar and she made a huge impact..

but she needs another huge album /era to be really huge and be on the same level of britney (1999-2004) and madonna ( 1984-1991)

You mentioned in your original post that the last person to do a debut like this was "maybe" Britney and I had to scratch my head at that maybe part. There is no maybe, she did have a huge debut and there is no disputing that whatsoever. The amount of press, sales, worldwide dominance, and moments she accumulated in her debut were huge.

Gaga is owning it right now no doubt and is currently huge, but the magnitude of her debut I find no bigger than Britney's. I'll definitely say worldwide success and Pop Culture phenomenon is without a doubt huge. I remember vividly Britney's debut and the girl simply was smashing everyone worldwide and has given us some of Pop Culture's most memorable moments. She was "THAT GIRL" during her debut and has proven to withstand the test of time as a consistent artist.

As for Beyonce, she had a big debut but no where near as big as Britney's and Gaga's, but where she had excelled in was getting better and better with her performances and Pop Culture star. She's without a doubt a force to be reckoned with.

The idea of "eclipsing" her wasn't prominent until the Bey stans came in throwing figures/achievements from a decade ago. (when the discussion is about current). Even then, no one has tried to say she has eclipsed her, but yet she is currently bigger than her.

Three of GaGa's singles have eclipsed what's considered to be Bey's biggest single as far as downloads are concerned

love100 you are missing the point, this discussion has nothing to do with longevity. If it did then we wouldn't even be discussing Beyonce, 3 albums in 7 years does not equate to a career. She still has a lot to prove.

I don't doubt that Lady GaGa will have a long career, there's been very little to suggest otherwise. She continues to go from strength to strength. Every major star is overexposed at a certain point in their career, that's not necessarily a bad thing. BTW will not be make or break for her, it may not be as successful as TFM, but she's not going to flop. She's made too much of an impact to simply vanish overnight.

I like Beyoncé too and I specifically said at the start not to turn it into this, but once it goes down people react.

When I said "maybe," it was in context of her being the last artist to do it. I don't remember anyone after Britney having such a huge impact in such a huge period of time. GaGa comes the closest. I never denied that Britney has had major impact.
