Christina Gives Support To It Gets Better Today Campaign
Christina Aguilera has given her support to a new campaign launched at young lesbian,
gay and bisexual people in Britain by the gay rights charity Stonewall which builds on the
US campaign “It Gets Better” started by Dan Savage.
Named the “It gets better … today” campaign, Stonewall is hoping to recreate the same
attention to the issue of homophobic bullying as the campaign has in the US and has
already added a number of videos to it’s own Youtube channels including the BBC newsreader
Jane Hill and MP Diane Abbott. They also encouraging others to make their own by making a
video response to those uploaded at:
www.youtube.com/stonewalluk or contacting
[email protected].
Speaking about the campaign Ben Summerskill, Chief Executive of Stonewall said:
“At Stonewall we now work with hundreds of schools and employers who are making sure
things do get better for gay people, right away. Working together, we can make it happen.”
Whilst Christina Aguilera added:
“I Know just how important it is to feel like you can be yourself – in your career and in your
everyday life. For anyone who feels like an outsider, I want to say: Don’t let the bullies win, Be
yourself and don’t let words get you down. It gets better today. With your help, Stonewall can
make it happen”
