Now I will make this point. The top 10 couldn't be any more different in styles. You have your Acoustic section (Jenna #10), your Country-pop twinge (Janell #7), your straight up Country (Kenny #1), your hard rock section (Domenica #8), your metal section (Avenged #6), your creepy metal (Serj #2), your pop/rock (KSM #3), your electronic/new wave-esque section (Lights #9), and your sorta interesting rock (Threadspinner #5) and more alternative (Linkin Park #4)

Small crowd today.
*crowd applauds*
Me:Today is September 12th's countdown. We have a tiny crowd of 29,203 today. Everyone's enjoying their last days of Summer but to those who showed up today...we welcome you. We have a few special guests in the audience today. We have Chopped winner Madison in the crowd (who will compete in the TOC finale for $50,000 in 2 1/2 weeks), we have Kristen from BB12 also in the audience today, and we have former MTV VJ Dave Holmes also in the crowd. They're all here to witness the show.
'Bruce Springsteen performs 5 songs. We also have Eminem performing a classic song, and a new one. Plus we give you our VMA predictions.'
Me:While the lineup looks light, the countdown is NEVER light. Debuts from Weezer, B.O.B. feat. Rivers Cuomo, Kings Of Leon and Kellie Pickler all debuting on today's countdown. (This is a performance you will only see on my countdown) But not yet, we go on with the countdown. When we did our very first countdown show of the 2001 Fall season, singer Jamie Lynn Sigler with Cry Baby was #1. I think you will like the 2 categories we have for you today and one of them looks back on one of those 2001 countdowns. We asked Jamie what she thought of this current chart and she said, 'I don't know. I have mixed feelings. The variety is nice, but sometimes you got to have that easy-loving pop. I don't see it on here unless I'm missing something.' Well Jamie, you are missing something. At #30 is a band who was in the midst of their debut album Infest at the time my 2001 show aired, here's their latest song Kick in The Teeth getting kicked!

Ozzy:SHARON!
Me:LOL.
20. Ozzy Osbourne "Let Me Hear You Scream" (11, 1@1) =
19. Miranda Lambert "The House That Built Me" (7, 19) =

KSM battles the girls. Jonas battles the boys. LP v.s. KSM#1
A crowd of 96,701 embraces us today. And today is that day when we make our VMA picks. That's all we have today is the countdown and there are 2 special top 10s today. Stay tuned. Joining me to make their picks are BB12's Annie, poker pro Nichoel Peppe, joining us live from the BB12 Jury House is BB12's Britney, former VH1 countdown host Cain, and reigning world champion of poker Joe Cada. Let's start with this.
BEST EDITING

Editor: Clark Eddy
P!nk
Funhouse
Editor: Chris Davis
Miike Snow

Lady Gaga
Bad Romance
Director: Francis Lawrence
Eminem
Not Afraid
Director: Rich Lee
P!nk
Funhouse
Director: Dave Meyers
30 Seconds To Mars
Kings and Queens
Director: Bartholomew Cubbins
Me:Make your picks! While we make them, let's look at the countdown for 40-36.
TOP 40:
40. Hey Monday "I Don't Want To Dance" (25, 2) -3
39. Kellie Pickler "Making Me Fall In Love Again" (2, 39) +1
39. B.O.B. Ft. Rivers Cuomo "Magic" (2, 38) +1
37. Weezer "Memories" (2, 37) +1
36. Lady Antebellum "I Run To You" (13, 7) -8
Me:OK we're back. We have made our picks.
Annie:OK well, Eminem should be considered the favorite IMO for this award. I pick him to win with Not Afraid...for both Best Editing and Best Direction.
Nichoel:Annie are you crazy? I think Lady GaGa will easily win both of those awards.
Annie:A girl can dream Nichoel.
Nichoel:We'll see.
Britney:I got Gaga winning Best Editing and Eminem winning Best Direction. I'll be stunned if either one doesn't win one of the two.
Cain:For Editing I think Gaga will win and for Best Direction, I will go with 30 Seconds To Mars.
Nichoel:30STM!? That's a bold prediction. I like your boldness but sometimes you just have to go with basic strategy.
Joe:Cain is anything but basic. I'll take Eminem in Best Editing and Gaga in Best Direction.
Me:I myself will choose 30 Seconds To Mars for Best Direction and for Best Editing it will be Eminem.
Nichoel:You are both nuts.
Me:We can agree Rihanna won't win though right?
Annie:No doubt. Rude Boy is OK, but come on it's NOT great!
FANS VOTE:Lady Gaga (Best Direction/Best Editing) 56%/43%
Me:You'll be doubting your picks...LOL. At #35 is a future VMA nominee. Here's The Band Perry.
Annie:VMAs should have Best Country, Best Metal, Best Alternative and such...they put too much emphasis on Pop.
Me:The MTV people have no brains. Period.
Annie:
35. The Band Perry "If I Die Young" (4, 34) -1
34. Carrie Underwood "Mama's Song" (4, 33) -1
33. Sugarland "Stuck Like Glue" (4, 32) -1
32. Porcelain & The Tramps "Red Light District" (16, 1@1) -1
31. Orianthi "Shut Up And Kiss Me" (25, 2) +4
Me:Here's our next wave.
BEST CHOREOGRAPHY
Lady Gaga
Bad Romance
Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé
Telephone
Beyoncé featuring Lady Gaga
Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Usher featuring Will.I.Am
OMG
Janelle Monáe featuring Big Boi
Tightrope
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
Eminem
Not Afraid
Jay-Z & Alicia Keys
Empire State of Mind
Lady Gaga
Bad Romance
Mumford and Sons
Little Lion Man
Florence + The Machine
Dog Days Are Over
Me:We made our picks. Cain starts.
Cain:OK, Janelle Monae is not that great honestly. As for Choreography, I will go with Bad Romance by Gaga. For Cinematography, I will say Mumford And Sons.
Nichoel:How the hell is Gaga nominated 3 times for Choreography? I like her but that's not variety! I will go with Bad Romance to win both these awards though. Telephone and Video Phone are essentially the same to me.
Annie:I will go outside the box here. Florence & The Machine for Best Cinematography and Usher for Best Choreography.
Nichoel:Against Gaga and Eminem here?
Annie:Yeah.
Joe:Give me Telephone and Empire State Of Mind for these.
Britney:I'll go with Gaga for Choreo and Eminem for Cinema.
Joe:Okie dokie.
Me:While I want Mumford & Sons to win Cinematography because it blows the others away, it will be Eminem who wins. For Choreo, Bad Romance. IMO this is the worst nominations list ever if you're looking for variety. What happened to the good days of the VMAs? Gaga 3/5 times nominated and Beyonce 2/5 times nominated is NOT variety if you ask me.
Britney:You're bold.
Me:I know.
Annie:LOL.
Nichoel:Tiffany Michelle can sing better than Janelle Monae. And she is a poker pro/budding actress!
Me:LOL. I agree.
FANS VOTE:Eminem (Cinema) 40%, Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (Choreo) 86%
Me:86%? They basically give Usher and Janelle no chance. At #30 is Kris Allen.
30. Kris Allen Ft. Pat Monahan "The Truth" (19, 9) -6
29. Shinedown "The Crow & The Butterfly" (9, 15) -6
28. Halestorm "Familiar Taste Of Poison" (23, 7) -6
27. Didi Benami "Terrified" (8, 21) -6
26. Goo Goo Dolls "Home" (25, 2) +3
Me:Next wave!
BEST ART DIRECTION
Lady Gaga
Bad Romance
Florence + The Machine
Dogs Days Are Over
Eminem
Not Afraid
30 Seconds To Mars
Kings and Queens
Beyoncé featuring Lady Gaga
Video Phone (Extended Remix)
-----
BEST COLLABORATION
B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams
Airplanes
Beyoncé featuring Lady Gaga
Video Phone (Extended Remix)
3OH!3 featuring Kesha
My First Kiss
Jay-Z & Alicia Keys
Empire State of Mind
Me:Britney starts this time.
Britney:Well this is easy. I will choose Florence + The Machine for Best Art Direction. For Collaboration it's a tough call. I will choose 3OH!3 feat. Ke$ha.
Joe:Jay-Z & Alicia for Collaboration with Best Art Direction going to 30 Seconds To Mars.
Cain:I will talk Airplanes by B.O.B. for Best Collab with the lovely Hayley Williams. For Art Direction, I will take 30STM.
Nichoel:Just to be different, Video Phone for Collab.
Annie:....
Nichoel:And for Best Art Direction, Eminem.
Annie:Are you serious about Video Phone?
Nichoel:Yes. They always let Beyonce have an award.
Annie:Makes sense. Well I'll go with Airplanes and Kings And Queens.
Me:I have to say Gaga will win Best Art Direction with Bad Romance but I agree it should go to 30STM. Just because Gaga is nominated so much doesn't make her a god or queen.
Annie:Good point. Ya never know.
Me:For Best Collaboration, I will agree with Cain. Airplanes looks like the favorite.
FANS VOTE:Empire State Of Mind (Collaboration) 29%, Not Afraid (Art Direction) 34%
Me:To the top 25. Here's Runner Runner.
Nichoel on't remind me. LOL.

Cain:Being an MGMT fan, I will take Pursuit Of Happiness and for Dance, let's go with Cascada.
Britney:Can't believe I'm saying this but Forever and Bad Romance respectively.
Me:For Hip-Hop I will take Eminem. For Best Dance? Cascada! Enrique doesn't deserve to win Best Dance because of Jersey Shore. I want to beat the crap out of The Situation and Snooki. They are overrated....OVERRATED!
Annie:Harsh much?
Britney:What's a Snooki?
Me:LMAO.
Nichoel:I hear ya Mike. I see a lot of people have mixed feelings on the show.
Me:If I Like It wins Best Dance, then it's rigged.
Nichoel:Agreed.
FANS VOTE:On To The Next One (Hip-Hop) 26%, OMG (Dance) 29%
Me:The fans say Jay-Z and Usher will win. Interesting.

Britney:
Nichoel:For Pop, we all agreed that Katy will win with California Girls....except for miss prissy Annie.

Me:We're running low on time, let's get right to it. Ke$ha/Jason Derulo. But the Best Male category needs more variety and less hip-hop/r&b in contention. VMAs will be a distant

Britney:Lady Gaga/B.O.B.

Annie:Are they for only singers?
Me:No. There are some non-singer categories.
Britney:If there's an award for Best Reality Star, I will probably win. I do think that Aarti and Tom from Next Food Network Star will be tough if they are nominated.
Me:We'll see. OK now the final awards.

Honestly for the Boy Group one, it's pretty clear cut...either BSB - As Long As You Love Me or N Sync - Tearing Up My Heart for #1.
For the Girl Group one, it was a tossup. You can make a case for any of the top 10 to be #1. Vanilla Ninja, Lillix, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Eden's Crush, Spice Girls, No Secrets, Dream twice and KSM.

9.13.10:LP kings, KSM queens
THE VMAS ARE GARBAGE NOW! Thankfully though they aren't as big as a Grammy which is the real deal. Bieber didn't deserve Best New Artist, Ke$ha was robbed!
Me:OK enough ranting. Welcome to Monday September 13th's countdown. In just 363 days we'll be looking ahead to the 10 year anniversary of the 9.11 attacks. As of right now we press on to today's show. We have Ryan of Grill Em All and Misa of Nom Nom as we are down to two food trucks in the Great Food Truck Race. They will battle it out in New York. But first they stop by to showcase their top 10 picks. We also have three other special top 10s including Most Overrated Artists, Most Underrated Artists, and Top 10 Australian artists. (as voted by the fans). The Most Under and Overrated are my picks so deal with it. Iron Chef America's Alton Brown and Michael Symon check in as they will preview The Next Iron Chef.
Me:To follow up on Food Truck Race, I had Grill Em All as my 3rd favorite of the 7 and Nom Nom as my 5th favorite. (I liked Rajun Cajun the most, Austin Daily Press 2nd most, Crepes Bonaparte 4th, Spencer On The Go 6th and Banana Queens 7th). I know I want to talk about food, but you want the countdown right? Well you will get it. Yet again no new entries but we have a bit of movement.
TOP 40:
40. Hey Monday "I Don't Want To Dance" (26, 2) =

Me:Pretty good top 10s guys.
Ryan:I could have chosen from like 500 though, so I just went with the 10 I like this second. Not an easy list to come up with I tell you.
Misa:Unlike Ryan, I didn't have a lot to choose from. I had like about 65-70 I was deciding on. I went with this list.
Me:Nice. What do you think of my own list?
Misa:Honestly, I don't feel like I'm blown away by this list.
Me:OK why?
Misa:I do think you have some good points with your variety. I respect that a lot.
*Jennifer's in the crowd chanting nom nom nom nom*
Me:LOL. Your partner in crime is funny.
Misa:I think the stuff on your chart is just stuff I'm not familiar with. But what do I know? I'm a food truck person.
Me:I understand.
Ryan:I'm gonna have to somewhat disagree. I will agree on the fact that most of this chart I'm not too familiar with either. I do like seeing Serj and Disturbed on here as well as Kings Of Leon. But where's Muse????
Me:Stiff competition.
Ryan:Makes sense.
Me:Alright, well I will get to #30. This is a song that'd be in your wheelhouse Misa.
Misa:Really?
Me own to #30 is Didi Benami.
Misa:Nope. Never heard of Didi.
Me:Well here ya go.
Misa:Alright, I'm listening.

22. Stephanie Brownlee "That Kind Of Day" (13, 8) +2
21. Secondhand Serenade "Something More" (4, 21) +2
Misa idi's not bad. I would say her voice is somewhat heavenly. It's like you're at the lounge and she's prepping up for her opening number.
Me:A lounge singer you say?
Misa:To an extent, I can see where her Folk/Soul/Acoustic style comes in though.
Ryan:I would say that Didi isn't great, but she's not terrible. It's hard to find a unique singer these days. Don't get me started on that dweeby kid from up north.
Me:Bieber?
Ryan:Yes. Where is his talent? Where is his moxy?
Me:I know. Bieber sucks.
Ryan:I'm surprised The Parlotones are on here. Who are they?
Misa on't know either.
Me:I think I saw the video on MTVU the other day. Weird video and song. Alright to #20 we have a band who infested us a while back. Here's Kick In The Teeth! Alton Brown and Michael Symon will chat with us during this video block.
20. Papa Roach "Kick In The Teeth" (17, 6) +2
19. Jenna Bryson "Magic" (14, 3) -1
18. Sara Bareilles "King Of Anything" (26, 3) -1

11. Ozzy Osbourne "Let Me Hear You Scream" (13, 1@1) +3
Me:Alright so Symon and Brown tell us to expect a harder challenge for Next Iron Chef. The Chariman did not make an appearance.
Ryan:Can we serve some food to the audience while you continue on?
Misa:Can we?
Me:Yes go ahead. Serve your specialties.
Both:Alright, we'll see what we can do.
*commercial break*
Janell:This is Janell from American Idol 9. Stay tuned for more countdown coverage. Don't forget the special top 10s are on the way too. At #10 is my song I Like Me. I will be performing it live this week. Don't miss that. You better not miss my performance!
