Songwriter-and-producer Steve Anderson has worked with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Kylie Minogue. He recently collaborated with Britney on a single called Grow, and says rumours the star can’t sing without the help of auto-tune technology are ridiculous.


“I adore Grow. It’s so gorgeous. Lisa Greene was in America with Britney writing new songs, I was supposed to go but was working on a Kylie tour”, Steve told. “One night she called and was in the studio with Britney. They had come up with an idea which they sang down the phone to me, and I got to work on a track idea for it to help them get to the next stage with the song.”


“We then worked via phone and e-mail co-writing for the next few days, ending up with Lisa recording Britney and sending me the vocals to mix. I have to say the vocals were stunning – another misconception about people being able to sing. Honestly, such a great singer.”

Grow ended up being cut from Britney’s last album Circus because it was a ballad and did not fit with the rest of the album’s R&B feel. Steven says it is an amazing song, and hopes the star will release it one day soon.

“It’s a song very much to do with her kids, and I think just after that there were some problems which meant it would have not fit on the record”, Steven said.

“Also it was very gentle and she went incredibly hard and R&B so it wouldn’t have worked. It’s a shame as I absolutely love it and would love people to hear it, but it’s not for me to let that happen.”

Why you guys care so much about sales? Is Britney only an instrument for ya'll to "drag the lessers"..? You all should be glad Britney could be releasing MUSIC as soon as Janauary 2011 instead of November 2011.

I could care less about release date & sales relation, I just want new music as well. If it's November 2010, January, or later, I'll be here. However, that doesn't mean we can't discuss possible outcomes of it's sales, and face it, that's how Jive will be strategizing the release. So that's all we can truly depend on as to wondering when it'll be released.

Though, of course we all want Britney to be successful, so it's not even about "the other girls" (at least I don't care about comparing sales), which no one even brought that up. I just want her to be successful as any fan, plus of course just getting new music. Not cool to assume why people are discussing things. It's better than the usual "whats your favorite Brit song" or fighting.

She went to one of his parties when she was like 17 - during the BOMT era, lol. I'm sure she met him then.

All I can say is 2011 is going to be a really really really nasty year in music history! January 2011 means JIVE/BRITNEY is coming for an entire year of sales which means they are shooting for longevity which means Britney will definently perform and do promo! Competition is thick and they definently know it! Britney is going to rip heads off!

I agree with you Rico, I really want new music BADLY but I admit I always get nervous about sales, I mean Britney sells ANYTIME of the year but it stills make me nervous, because I want her to be DAMN successfull with everything she does.

I think you will not have to worry about that. I mean, she's Britney Spears. She'll do good, for sure.

And I'm really curious to hear her new stuff. Hope it's a change from her last album/sound.

There was a snippet for Britney's 2011 project on youtube called "Untouchable" and they took it down! If any of you heard it I know you like it! I cried listening to it and imagining Britney performing it live! "Untouchable" should be used. Also "Tear Up This Club" is ****ing bad ass to, that **** THUMPS HARD. "The Wig Snatcher Is Coming" January 11, 2011! Rumor, joking! Cant wait for new britney!
