For those who can't wait for Teenage Dream:
1. Teenage Dream: "The title track...picks up right where "California Gurls" leaves off. With a strong beat to back her up, Perry sings about a boy who makes her feel like a teenager again. "Summer in a bottle with a storming pop beat."
2 Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.): "her party anthem, which she explained had a purpose for being on the album: "There's a lot of substance ... but also some no-brainers."
She likened the song to "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyes Peas. The midtempo party track recalls all the fun nights gone by." “The dumbest on the record. Waking Up In Vegas 2.0,”
3. California Gurls feat. Snoop Dogg
4. Firework: "Katy’s personal favourite. Euphoric and clubby." , "epic, orchestral" ,"her f---ing opus," is a shimmering tune that plays up Perry's vocals and gives a slightly orchestral feel during the song's chorus.", "It's the best vocal performance I've ever heard from Katy."
5. Peacock : "saucy", "cheerleader-ish, double-entendre-filled" , "Cheeky double entendres and a pulsating house beat make this a hit in waiting" "ridiculous, phallus-fetishizing with girl-power cheerleader chants." “I’m a big fan of innuendo and puns. Peacock’s fun, but it could be tot ally dirty. A five-year-old could sing it, but your 15-year-old will know what it means. "
6. Circle The Drain: “I want to be your lover, not your f***ing mother,”, Perry displays some angst on the rock-tinged breakup anthem "Circle the Drain." On it, Perry sings about leaving behind a lover or friend with a substance-abuse problem. ", "a Pat Benatar-inspired number about Perry's ex-boyfriend, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy." , "It's kind of like my 'You Oughta Know' Alanis Morissette moment,"Perry, sounds unusually candid on "Drain," singing, "You fall asleep during foreplay/'Cause the pills you take, I know your forte/I'm not sticking around to watch you go down.", "the poignant Circle The Drain seems to explain their split. " ,"People will think it’s about Travis but it could be about many other diff erent situations. " “Circle The Drain is intense – it’s my Alanis Morrisette’s You Oughta Know. ", “It has the F-word in it five times but I don’t think it’s me shocking people – you always say f*** when it’s called for.”
7. The One That Got Away: "Marching drums meet pretty nursery rhyme-esqe vocals.", "dance track"
8. E.T.: "a whooshing, electronic ballad that has Perry singing about a lover from "a different dimension" "celestial hip-hop track "
9. Who Am I Living For?: -?
10. Pearl: “She is a pyramid, but with him she’s a grain of sand.” A thoughtful slowie." slowed things down with the ballad, "Pearl," about a girl who was once a lighthearted woman until someone came along and changed her. She eventually switches the script, and it becomes an empowering song about change." , "with real vulnerability that most recall her singer/songwriter roots."
11. Hummingbird Heartbeat: -?
12. Not Like The Movies:"A piano-driven ballad where Katy sings her pipes out." ,"dreamy, midtempo ode to love", "real vulnerability that most recall her singer/songwriter roots."
