All of this ridiculous fan-obsession over "ET" needs to stop. It's not gonna be a single, get over it.
I like the song, but I would prefer it not even be on the album just so people shut up about it.

A teenager couldn't sing this song, based on the context alone. It is really a song about reliving the carefree, glory days of being a teenager and not having to be responsible for the future. The whole "teenage" aspect is purely metaphorical, the word itself could have been replaced with various other words describing the "perfect dream."
One of the best songs of 2010.
