I've been stanning for this movie since before it was even shot (amazing script), and now that it's shaping up to be an indie smash, here's a thread on its box office performance and critical reception. I will update it every week and expect it to go all the way trough to Oscar season.

From Variety: Specialty pic "The Kids Are All Right," from Focus Features, continued to make headway in the indie realm, trumpeting a per-screen average of $27,036 at 38 engagements in its second outing. Last weekend, "Kids" debuted with the year's highest per-screen average of $70,282 at seven locations. Pic's cume stands at $1.8 million.

I've been seeing a lot of Oscar buzz for this movie!

It deserves it, it's the perfect little movie. It's got all the best qualities of independent film, but unlike a lot of indies that are too cool for emotion and prefer to remain cold and deadpan, it's also warm and funny.

The fact that it's about a lesbian couple might hurt its performance in middle America, but the budget was only $4M.

If you're over 15 (there is sooo much sex in it), and if it's playing near you, I highly recommend it!

I still need to go see it. i'll wait a couple more weeks till a more closer theater starts playing it.

So much sex = Rated R?

I want to see this only because of Josh Hutcherson. He looks so grown up and different from Cirque Du Freak!!!

Omg yes, it's most definitely Rated R. There are many, many graphic, realistic sex scenes, both lesbian and straight.

Josh Hutcherson is excellent in it, but the girl from Alice in Wonderland is the true revelation.

It made $1.027 Million this weekend averaging $27k per theater.

Oh i can't wait to see this movie, so many great actor and the story looks awesome

I didnt even know we have this movie until today, but I'm not even close to any selected theatres

Haven't watched it but it's shaping up to be this year's Up In The Air, Juno or Little Miss Sunshine. Which means it will surely get a nomination for Best Picture and some Acting categories, but it won't win Best Picture.

I see Inception and Toy Story 3 has some serious competition at the Oscars this year.

Forget the wonderful story, writing, acting, etc.

If you like an amazing movie that happens to be about lesbians, you must be one.

Same thing happened with Brokeback Mountain... Not a shocker. People are dumb.
