I always felt that Nicole fits pop and dance music better, rather than R&B. Nicole's hit songs are all pop and dance, like Poison, Don't Hold Your Breath and Your Love. All of Nicole's attempts at crossover R&B failed.
Same here. I just need a Chandelier-esque type of song from her...
I get what you mean... But the problem is even if Nicole tries to get something in vein with Bey's 4, she'll probably get a well known producer who will basically give her ****** production like Tricky & The Dream did.
That is why I prefer Killer Love. RedOne's productions are similiar and generic but still good. I mean Say Yes is absolutely stunning and I don't picture any artist doing it better. Killer Love/Poison have that raspy tone and edginess I absolutely adore.. Toby Gad and Boi-1da also gave some good songs.
Nicole needs to work with people like Danja, although deep down inside I would love her to do an album with Greg Kurstin....
On the other hand, I think the likes of David Foster and Walter Afanasieff would definitely give her that album that showcases her range and vulnerability.

And sorry to say but Big Fat Lie was a pretty weak experimental album, but hopefully she learned some things from that album. I would've preferred that if Nicole went experimental she would try different genres all in one album, and really immersed herself in each genre, and worked with a broad variety of producers, experimented with her lyrics, her vocals, vocal distortion, and using unconventional instruments, or something.
You got me wrong though. I used Bey's 4 as example for a blueprint. I never said she should go full urban or experiment in that genre. But the way that album is build with the right amount of songs to showcase the voice, aswell as showing her fun side/performance side is something I would love Nicole to do. An organic sound can easily done with pop because it is a broad genre. She just needs to find the right producers to be able to build something like that. Toby Gad is a good start for that because he is versatile. Danja would also be a good option. I just say she should work on an album that 100% fits her vocally and would sound the same, if not better in a live setting. Which is something she has het to accomplish. Since even KL has moments that make it harder for her than she should have made it for herself, like Right There.

I agree with this. But to be honest, I think people are actually here for the sassy Nicole. Songs that 100% fit her vocals would probably be songs in line with Purple Rain & And I Am Telling You or an extremely catchy ballad like you mentioned. (Pretty was actually PERFECT) She might even get 80/100 on metacritic, but I think she might still struggle to connect with the audience.
The thing is, I don't want Nicole to have just an album, but it needs to have decent sales. I mean, she's gotta make a living at some point.. So, having what WE want her to achieve sonically might not be what the GP wants. Especially since she's the black sheep in the music industry...

True, but even songs that fit her voice can be poppy. I mean most straight forward PCD songs she did were build around her voice (beside WIGU ). and even a song like Club Banger Nation seemed to have translated well looking back at the Killer Love Tour footage. I think she can easily do both on one album, but she just needs the right people to do that She is probably on her vocal peak these years and I think she should benefit from that,
IKR very tragic, the whole Sony journey so far was so underwhelming
yeah, it was a disaster. and she even had a multi-albums deal with Sony I don't know what to think about her new label. Maybe Warner? Maybe back to UMG?

Indeed, sad part is that she signed the deal on top of recording a less commercial project, it really felt like on one side they trusted her, but on the other side didn't wanted to throw her some coins to make it happen.
New label will be very interesting, especially since ironically it alll has been hush hush
Nicole keeps switching damn labels, gurl needs to stick to one and establish herself.
Nicole needs to release albums, that's the only way she can grow her fanbase as a musician. Outside of the PCD, we have only two albums from her, and it's been 7 years.

Indeed, the shelving also made her artistry feel very odd, had she released
2006 - PCD
2007 - Her Name Is Nicole
2008 - Doll Domination
2009 - Doll Domination 2.0.
2010 - solo album
2011 - Killer Love
2012 - Killer Love re-release
2013 - Boomerang album
2014 - Big Fat Lie
2016 - PCD reunion project (10 year anniversary)
2017 - New album
her career would have made more sense and it also would have made so much more sense for her to have released BFL at that point in her career. a lot of artistic phases she has been through have never seen the light, and when she comes finally back, her next move feels kinda odd in the light of the past project. I hope this new project/album will put be a turning point for her to release frequently.
I mean I love our girl, but most of her discography is just pop music, lyrically it has not much debt, just general pop themes 90% of the time, so she should be able to release frequently without trouble. I hope she found a label that hold sher for a few eras and pushes her to an frequent release environment.
Almost Half way into January and still nothing? I remember by this time in 2011, DHYB was having different versions leaking online. Those were the exciting times indeed. ...

Everything related to her seems so uncertain. Even the Dirty Dancing movie doesn't seem to have a date yet. I feel we will get music around Summer though, I feel they want to roll it out with the possibility to perform on various platforms and specials, which mainly happen around the half of the year to the end of the year.
