There seems to be a groups of more moderate liberals who hate radical liberals more that radical conservatives, which I don't understand. It's very odd. Like that guy a few pages back who as "as a black Democrat this is the worst thing I've seen in a while" but is it really? I mean if we're talking just politics Trump was literally elected last month and I don't see why that wouldn't be worse than this video if you're a black Democrat...
Yes the video is cringeworthy, yes it's very internet-activism with weird unfunny jokes thrown in. But they didn't even say anything that crazy, and as it's been pointed out they even said "not all white guys" in their video. The fact everyone is so horribly up in arms about this dumb YouTube video but not about other more serious injustices seems to be very telling to me...
I think it's easy to look back on past activism and say it never got ugly and that fire was never fought with fire. But really, it was. 100% peaceful, nice protest does not always work. No marginalized group has ever gotten rights by sitting up straight and saying please.
I also agree this video isn't productive in any way, but I just think that it says a lot how angry people have gotten over it. (I feel like I explained myself badly but yeah)

This is just the hyperbole of the Internet and I think the response
is a culmination of feelings over recent months/years. I'm sure 90% of the people you're referring to have spent a fair portion of their time in real life & on social media dragging Trump and co-signing criticism of the right and have barely spoke on stuff like this.
But most people also operate in echochambers, whether it their friends, family or social media bubble. When a certain sentiment is the status quo, the value of reiterating it becomes dimished.
Trump is not a divisive issue if you are liberal, whether moderate or far left. Things like this however are supported by a fair portion left whilst also discouraged by another portion, when you disagree with a respected peer that brings forth more conversation, internal debate and frustrations. It's why most Atrl members spend more time talking about white gays than legitimate hate groups.
But as you said, if it's not productive I think it's hugely important for it to be challenged, especially by those who can actually influence the direction (other liberals). For me it's just so frustrating thst genuinely intelligent liberals are more concerned with their their ego than they are with effectively communicating their message and enabling the change they want to see.
No amount of intellectual debate is going to change the average white males response to being negatively generalised, spoken down to, being told their privilege makes this cool and then being told their "white tears" are delicious

I just really want this discussion to be moved forward half a step. The demographic won over by sassy, click bait is ours. New tactics now.
