Starting from scratch with a clean slate as a completely unknown is a much better position than starting with a barely there name and negative baggage with much of your target demographic. Going from group to solo, it's best to position it the right way to 1) maintain the support from whatever fanbase you've built with the group and 2) have the best introduction possible to demographics you haven't yet reached as a part of the group. For the people that don't know much about them/her, that breakup announcement letter is likely going to be the first impression of her public persona and it doesn't look good. It's a precarious position as everything she does at this point will be so loaded and scrutinized; if she doesn't do well out of the gate with her first proper solo song, she's gonna get roasted and labeled as the girl that got the big head left and bombed.
