We Belong Together, with 16 weeks, is really the only applicable comparison, as it spent 16 weeks at #1 on HRS AFTER all of the formats were added to the BB HRS panel. Don't Speak and Iris led the airplay chart when BB only included Mainstream Top 40, Adult Top 40, Alternative, AC, and the Rhythmic Top 40 formats.
Given the fact that these songs received extensive airplay at the first four of these formats but basically nowhere else, it's highly unlikely either DS or Iris would've respectively reached 16 and 18 weeks with the increased amount of competition. Both might have received minimal support at Active/Mainstream Rock. However, many of the Rhythmic songs receiving extensive Top 40 and Urban (and potentially Urban AC) airplay would've cut DS and Iris stay on top of HRS rather significantly.
EDIT: Also Closer peaked at just a little over a 150 million audience on HRS and a little under 200 M on MB AI, EVEN when combing the actual MB total with the Latin reports on Kworb. WBT, Blurred Lines, Happy, and Uptown Funk all peaked with HRS totals almost at or over 190 M on HRS and 240 AI on MB. Even Dark Horse and All Of Me had significantly larger audiences at their peak airplay points, though their stays were shorter due to Happy.. Closer is sort of like Love Yourself. Both have/had impressive airplay longevity, but neither would have held onto #1 as long on HRS & MB AI had they faced stiffer competition.
