YG's always late when it comes to those survival shows (see Unpretty Rapstar and SMTM) and SM doesn't really need to send one of their trainees to a group managed by a different label when they're gonna be big anyway.

Oh and another plot twist, TWICE IS NOT DIRECTLY MANAGED BY JYP. They are managed differently compared to the way WG and MissA were. A special team was formed just for Twice.

Alot of the trainees, even the ones on IOI, thought that the show would be a total flop. So that's probably why SM, JYP and YG didn't want to risk exposing their trainees to a 'flop' show.
