my friend told me a lot of korean guys can find loopholes to not do it, but for celebs they'd be TRASHED and called traitors etc so they cannot take a shortcut or use their power which would easily allow them to get away without enlisting
Sure it happens. But generally they just enlist right before college to get it out of the way. These idols who end up going to the military in their late 20's is kind of a kii.
(So, when you see these military men going nuts for girl groups, well, they were just teenagers months ago, too... )
