I agree there was a slight drop in writing, but I noticed it during Laurel & Wes' exchange, I hope they don't ignore her this season or worse..

It's the first episode of an entire season. Overacting mysteries usually take place during an entire arch of episodes!

That's on par with the S2 finale though, which means the audience is still interested in the show. Any negative effects from this season won't be seen until next week's ratings.
