At a 2017 IPO, Spotify is expected to have more than 50 million paying users, more than 100 million non-paying users and $5 billion in annualized revenue, according to GP Bullhound.

At a 2020, Spotify is projected to have:

100m subscribers (now 40 m)
200m non-paying users (now 70 - 80m)
~$11B revenue ($2.2B in 2015)

I love using Spotify but I don't think it'll last that long. Unless they add some new amazing features.

artists might as well start focusing 95% on streaming. digital sales will be dead in the US like they are in europe by then

But realistically what model is going to take over from streaming in the future? It seems like it's here to stay as long as people are making music.

I'd love to use it more often, but most of the albums are labelled with awful titles and they ruin my Last.fm.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't think Spotify is going to continue to grow at the rate that it has the past 2-3 years. Plus, their contracts with the major labels are running out very soon and the labels want them to make it less free, yet, Spotify on the other hand wants to pay the labels even less and do nothing about how free it is.
