Because the lead single was kind of a party song, there was a bit of a vibe in some reviews that she'd retreated from the soul-searching of Ray Of Light. But even a cursory listen shows that the album has not only its own healthy share of introspection, it's probably even more sonically experimental than its predecessor. I always use the word 'spooky' to describe this album. There's an electro-rootsy element to it that sets it apart from the rest of her discography.
