Perfect Illusion has that ethereal quality that makes a song become a classic.
The music evokes the emotional response that only a few select songs have. It's the kind of song you imagine yourself turning up to max while racing down a highway with your top down, your hair flying in the air and feeling free.
It's a song that can't be constrained by time. Perfect Illusion could have been a hit in the 80s, 90s, today and in 30 years. It doesn't bother borrowing from current trends in order to give a short sugar rush to the listener. Instead, it evokes true emotion and aims to be a legacy smash.
It's incredible. I'm so glad we still have artists brave enough to do their own thing in 2016.
