SM is SO going to use Onew's injury to cover their ass. If anything the delay is going to be because SM ****ed up and didn't give them a choreo and a MV yet

yeah, i don’t know where allkpop got that from because sm’s statement said nothing about a delay. allkpop’s translation condensed the statement. here is another one that’s still a bit condensed but mentions that they’re going to keep checking up on him, nothing about a delay. moonrok (who’re a lot more trustworthy and less baity / more to the point than allkpop, in my experience) translated the complete statement in depth:
sm represenative: “in the middle of the concert onew sprained his right ankle. however, he finished the concert and was rushed to the hospital to receive an examination as soon as it ended. luckily, the results of the examination showed that there was nothing wrong with the bone, and onew received the diagnosis that he should minimize movement and rest. for protection [onew] will currently be using a half / soft cast and we plan to constantly check the status of his recovery. shinee is in the midst of preparing for a mid-september comeback, and of course onew is preparing with them. although it looks like it won’t be a big problem, we will adjust [the comeback] to the status of his recovery.”
overall, it’s a vague and routine statement but basically in line with one that any company would give right after an minor injury. it’s really hard to track them and all that can really be done is to take everything day by day. regardless, there’s no way that shinee could begin their promotions any earlier than two and a half weeks from now so onew will, luckily, get a good amount of rest time either way. shinee have a public schedule on the 8th so we’ll probably get a good idea of how he’s doing then, whether he’s there or he’s skipping out on the event to focus on trying to speed up his recovery process. all in all, it kind of sucks because if shinee hadn’t performed all those new songs at their concert it’d be easier to work around but the timeline it gonna be a lot tighter now. :/
