I told mom I'm an atheist last year and I'm a little bit interested in buddhist teachings a little bit and she was like "K"
thing is she told my father and he didnt reall care also (I suspect he's an atheist too but sometimes I just really dont know at that point
)
What surprised me the most is that they were chill at the fact I'm an atheist but when i argued with my mom and sis about lgbt rights and said "well what would you do if I was gay" and my mom said "i would call your uncles to kill you
I'd like to think that she was just exaggerating and saying that so I wont say that publicly to protect me (well... Since I live in a muslim town and some muslims HAVE NO CHILL) especially since she isn't really religious (neither my whole family except maybe for my sister and one of my brothers but my sis the most). But I feel kinda lucky since I live in Israel and Israeli arabs are a bit more chill about these subjects than arabs in other countries but its still a toxic environment mostly for lgbt people espicially in smaller towns).
But at this point I dont really care anymore and Im planning to live elsewhere (maybe Haifa or Tel-aviv) where it would be safer and more open for people like me, I even told my parents to not build a house for me (which most arab parents usually do to their male kids after or during college so they can get married fast and **** or so the country wont **** with them in the future regarding licenses to build, something Israel is famous for doing here)
