It's kinda simple, tbh.
Korean charts are Gaon, Hanteo and Melon. These are actually acknowledged by public.
Gaon is more of a Billboard, weekly, monthly and yearly charts, digital and physical both. And it also tracks streams, I think. While Melon is iTunes\Spotify\Apple Music all in one, they buy and stream music (digital) there. Hanteo is something US market doesn't have and maybe should try to copy, because it tracks real-time sales.
Music shows are weekly music charts based on everything including digital and physical sales, MV views, votes etc. Percentage for every criteria varies depending on the show itself. I mean, these shows and its PDs are the ones who set criteria.
