So I've read on here a lot about gay lingo like "shade", "drag", "the gag is", etc being words we borrowed from black women, but I've also heard from black gays that women have been taking these terms from us. I've also heard a lot of black women who speak in those terms credit the gays for it, so I'm confused as to who started what.
It seems to me like it's one of those chicken or the egg situations. Probably because historically gays and black women (trans and cis) have been allies.
