Woman fills £67,000 artwork thinking it was a crossword
A pensioner who visited a museum stunned staff when she took out a pen and filled in one of the works of art on display - because it was a CROSSWORD PUZZLE.
The unnamed woman, who is 91, was looking at an avante-garde 1977 work called 'Reading-work-piece'.
The piece, which is on loan to the museum, is said to be worth around €80,000, or £67,000.
Painted by Arthur Köpcke, it looks like a crossword with blanks left for letters - and includes the text "insert words".
Seeing the English-language instructions, the visitor to Nuremberg's Neues Museum - part of a senior citizens group - said she understood them and thought it was an invitation, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung .
