I was speaking about this particular case, but honestly, I don't understand this whole concept of grown ass men and women wanting to be in relationships with 16 and 17 year olds anyways.
Regardless of what we think the age of consent should be (not that he could give consent in this case anyway), I can't help but question the morality of someone who is willing to risk prison time, being put on the sex offenders registry, and a lifetime of humiliation just to have sex when it would be so easy to find someone legal. That doesn't just sound dumb, that sounds dangerous.
I'm 17, probably as old as the student. Why can't a student my age consent? I know I was consensual when I was having intercourse with a 35 years old. Hell I'm the one who's looking for it too. We have minds of our own and we know the law. The teacher shouldn't be arrested, as long as the student was consenting it shouldn't be an issue.

17 is legal in Texas so he must have been under that to be considered underage.
