Those figures are so misleading... 7x Platinum sounds really impressive, but the song has not even sold 300,000 copies. Even when factoring Canada's lower population compared to the US, UK etc, it has not sold that much for a country with a population of its size.
Canada: Population: 34 Million. Most Downloaded song: Poker Face - 300,000.

UK: Population 61 Million. Most Downloaded Song: Poker Face - 900,000.
1 in every 68 people downloaded this.
US: Population 309 Million. Most Downloaded Song: Low - 5,200,000.
1 in every 59 people downloaded this.
I may have looked too much into this, but I do it all the time. I find it more interesting to compare things on an even scale.
