Reeces' Best Of '09: Top 50 Singles (10-08)
10. Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester "Good Girls Go Bad"
One of the most random collabos of the year, but oddly they complement each other so well. Cobra Starship scored the breakthrough hit they were aiming for, with help from Leighton Meester, who makes this song even more irresistible. 'Good Girls Go Bad' is a fun track with an insanely catchy hook, Gabe's engaging vocals and Leighton's sassy attitude make this a perfect song. I absolutely love the new direction Cobra Starship headed with this new album, this pop/electronic sound suits them perfectly, and adding Leighton to this track was just brilliant. They delivered one ot the most catchy hooks of the year, hands down.
09. Kelly Clarkson "Already Gone"
Ignoring all the Halo/Already Gone controversy, this is without a doubt Kelly Clarkson at her best, i would call it the 'Because Of You' from this era. No surprise when I say Clarkson's delivery is perfect, her vocals are filled with pain and resignation, as she sings moving lyrics about a relationship that was destined to end from the beginning with so much emotion. The lyrics are beautiful and the simple video gives a more personal vibe to the track. 'Already Gone' is more proof that Kelly Clarkson is one of the best singers of this generation.
08. Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake "Love, Sex, Magic"
Many people like to believe that Ciara sounds like she is proving the guest vocals in her own track, but I don't think that's the case at all. The dance beats, the retro r&b sound, and the evident chemistry between both singers make 'Love Sex Magic' extremely enjoyable. The video is also perfection, one of the best released this year, their chemistry is truly undeniable. The lyrics are sexy and brilliant; 'and I bet that I can make you believe in love and sex and magic' sounds so good in Ciara's voice. 'Love Sex Magic' is one of the highlights of Ciara's career and I'm anxiously anticipating her new album coming this year, C never disappoints.
