I came for BJ/JLo because of their minimal musical knowledge or input in their most recent releases, the dumbed down nature of it and purchased vocalists... it detracts from what music is supposed to be and substitutes an importance on celebria and monetary value rather than musical value. And in these cases their isn't really much artistic expression going on by any means.

The Fame is an great commercial album made to glamorize celebria and hollywood lifestyle even though afterwards we found out that gaga hates hollywood and pop music. She had a song about adoring the paparazzi for the love of god. BJ and A.K.A. were awful but even they had value(much much less value than most other music I admit).
But think of the fans and non fans that enjoyed it. It had effect on people. Music like most art has value only in the eyes of others. A masterpiece that you wrote or painted in your bedroom that will never be seen is completely pointless. Artists should strive to reach out to as many people with their music, not seclude themselves because being against popular music is cool and fresh and more edgy.
