I am proud that LEMONADE is basically the next step in her growth and that she did it finally without pleasing with some dull-ish moments. Even though I still adore Selftitled. I felt Pretty Hurts lyrically fitted the theme but the song itself felt really dull in comparison to most of the album, especially when you consider Ghost/Haunted and Drunk In Love follow after it. It seems like she wanted to give us those poppy moments through Runnin and maybe even Hymn.
It's such a GREAT moment to be a Bey stan. Once again she's hit us with an amazing album, great visuals, critical acclaim, what will undoubtedly be an amazing tour, and maybe even a little commercial success this go round.
I still can’t get over the power of Beyoncé’s message in Lemonade. It’s a bold thing to present the idea of an empowered female not leaving her cheating husband. But that’s what makes the piece so good: there is a push and pull of emotions. There’s no Irreplaceable-type song of her simply brushing it off. She’s hurt. And she hurts because she is truly in love. For a woman to know her worth and have such confidence in her love to put aside her own pride to fulfil her happiness is STRENGTH. To hold her head up high after facing such public humiliation, saying that a man’s fidelity has no power in defining how great and worthy you are... is BIG. If you want to make it work, you can, because you are a fierce woman. You are a feminist and you’ll never let a man’s actions dictate what you think you need to do based on society’s conditioning of your actions.
