38. Lady Gaga “LoveGame”
Lady Gaga, the most controversial artist for the year 2009 appears for the first time in my top 50 with
LoveGame. The streak for Lady Gaga in making amazing videos started with this single as she proves that she has a lot in store for us.
LoveGame easily became one of my favorites from her debut album The Fame. Just like what Gaga is implying in this song, the beat is really sick. My favorite line on
LoveGame would have to be
"Let's have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick", this part has a double meaning if you interpret it with a naughty perspective. As for the amazing video, you can say Lady Gaga copied the idea of
Toxic by Britney Spears. That might be the case but Gaga made the concept a bit naughtier as she is flirting with two guys. You also saw her kissing a guy and a girl cop which really questioned her sexuality. Overall,
LoveGame made us especially me to love Lady Gaga even more. Like what I stated above, the streak of her amazing videos started with
LoveGame, and the follow-up will be revealed in the next updates.

37. Kelly Clarkson “I Do Not Hook Up”
I Do Not Hook Up is the second single from Kelly Clarkson's latest album All I Ever Wanted. The song is catchy like all of Kelly's upbeat pop-rock anthems. Katy Perry as well as latest American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi are the ones who wrote this track .With
I Do Not Hook Up, Kelly sings about a girl who does not fall for a guy that easily. This can be proven from the lines
"Oh sweetheart put the bottle down, you’ve got too much talent". Kelly once again delivered a song with an attitude by using her amazing voice with a pop-rock sound. As for the video, I like the concept of the two settings, both the wedding and the bar scenes. The scenes where Kelly imaginatively makes out with the bartender and where she slips in the bar are my favorite part.
I Do Not Hook Up is a decent song, it had a good run in the charts, maybe it just lack the hit material needed but overall a worthy single to be included in my list.

36. Owl City “Fireflies”
Last song for this set is the breakthrough single of Adam Young, who is much better known as Owl City. If you think that he is a new artist, then you are wrong. He's been around for quite some time now but it is with
Fireflies which introduces him to popularity.
Fireflies was released around July last year but I only got to recognize and appreciate this song later last year. It is good enough to make it this far on my list and with the reason it top my countdown a couple of times. The song has a good beat with rhyming lyrics all throughout, Adam sings about make believing and this is expressed with the first line
"You would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies lit up the world as I fell asleep". The video is cute, no fireflies on it but it resembles what these creatures can do. It shows Adam Young playing on an old synthesizer in a toy-filled bedroom while each of the old toys starts coming to life.
Fireflies is a hit especially in the US and also here in the Philippines. It is well received by listeners and definitely a new sound to enjoy to.
