While it may be her best song and the best pop song ever, Like A Prayer was definitely not even among the first 10 songs I discovered when I was getting into Madonna

The one and ONLY time Cyndi was a bigger artist than Madonna was the mid 80s.
From Like A Prayer on, Madonna made far superior music.
I'm saying this as a fan of both who has listened to both of their discogs,
how many of y'all can say you own Cyndi Lauper's 90s albums?

Teens React (or any of those other 'age group' React) is hardly a receipt. Most of that stuff is set up for a reaction from the public.

Also, teens are typically ignorant about stuff that didn't occur during their times up until a certain age when they become more cultured about music of different genres and eras.

With that said, Madonna's name is more recognizable than a lot of her hits, and Cyndi Lauper's classics are still used very often.

"Umbrella" is kinda forgotten, I think.

I purchased A Girl Like Me when I was 11 years old.
Talk That Talk is one of my favorite pop albums, I loved her in 2010-11, but
it wasn't until like 2014-15 that I started to become a huge fan when she
took a break, morphed into a huge icon and I always knew I was gonna really
love Anti. Also, she kinda matches my current life state very well (intoxication,
weed everywhere, careless jadedness but a underlying beauty and
sexuality of it all). I've come to really love and respect her; her and Kesha are
now tied in my book but it's hard to predominantly stan $hackle w/no output.
Also, 2007 I was obsessed with Rih, too. I remember the first time I heard Umbrella,
it was before it hit iTunes. I really loved her throughout my life but not really
in my ATRL span until 2015.

Call Me Maybe is bigger than any Rihanna song, and more impactful too.

Jepshit is totally erased and hasn't even surpassed Kesha in relevancy.
