Lauri said that he wrote this song while on tour when he was depressed. So by putting this song in that light, it clearly screams out an urge of letting yourself up out of the shadows and an ought to win the control of your own life or something like that. Or whatever.


#19 Tears Dry On Their Own - Amy Winehouse
This song is a total genius and a real life case at that. Hooking up and "Hilton hotelling" then boom, you fell in love. You know that kind of no strings attached flings with a married man only finding yourself inadvertently falling for the **** at the end, left alone with "tears dry on their own". Brilliant.


#18 Stand - Jewel
Jewel's rants on the ****ed up human nature of our society today and the morbid truth of our reality nowadays, though concealed in sublimed pop tunes. Hopeless awakening >>> Optimistic lies.


#17 Love Song For No One - John Mayer
John Mayer just played the complete opposite of the infamous hopeless romantic through this song and so did a great job of conveying a heated desperation in an uplifting manner. Who knows? the laundry girl could be the right one for you.


#16 My Only Wish (This Year) - Britney Spears
I go ballistics (in a good way) whenever I hear this song. It reminds me so much of childhood, innocence and Christmas. Very feel good song. Lyrically, it has a similar mood to John Mayer's Love Song For No One, only we got sleigh bells and Santa Claus here!

Oh yeah! This track is the effing best! "Pelogroso posion" Talk about sexually charged adrenaline rush


#14 State Of Grace - Britney Spears
Britney's ode to the esoteric yet magical, strange yet mystical world of love. How she tried to describe the heightened sensibility of being in love and be loved. Love, love, love.


#13 Hurt - Nine Inch Nails
It could be herione, could be self mutilation. It all make sense to me. The sad annotations of the song also lies on the undercurrent thoughts of the people who have left him. He then ponders of "if I could start again", "I would find another way" Great sad song.


#12 Imitation Of Life - R.E.M.
This song can mean a lot of thing. Hollywood, personal, adolescence, middle age crisis, high school musical or even ball room dancing. Imitation Of Life sums up all the facade of life in all forms. BUT I'll take my friend's interpretation: adolescence as a prologue to the real life - Imitation of life.


#11 Bodies - Robbie Williams
Bodies is really cryptic and uses a lot of philosophical similes. I, myself, sees the song as a jab to the communal physical vanity of the good people of our society. "Bodies in the cemetery and that's the way is gonna be" is an allegory to the final destination of our hot bodies. The Jesus reference seems vague, at least for me. Great song, enough to make it in our decade countdown nonetheless.




#20 Miss Landmine Beauty Pageant
From the genius of Norwegian artist Morten Traavik, he has created a beauty pageant like no other. Miss Landmine involves disabled ladies competing against each other with a unanimous advocacy: pride and empowerment amongst women over physical perfection. These women were victims, though preferred to be called as survivors, of millions of landmines planted in Angola during the Civil War. The winner of the pageant gets a little too-different-from-the-usual prize too: a leg prosthesis!







#27 I Believe - Tata Young
One of the best Asian English-crossover pop albums ever. It can compete with the likes of Britney, Xtina and Beyonce in terms of delivering quality pop records. She even covered her own version of Cinderella, popularized by the Cheetah Girls, and completely blew the Disney starlets out of the greasy water.
Fave Song: My World's Spinning
When to listen: When you are feeling sexy, naughty and bitchy


#26 Arrasando - Thalia
I dont understand why most of the Hispanics hate Thalia. She's so pretty and adorable. How can you dislike her? Anyway, back on topic. I remember buying myself a copy of this album right in the middle of the Rosalinda craze! It was nothing like I expected! This album is too engineered and crosses many formats of genres. I thought she's just going to be another ballad chick but a big no. Good thing she provided us a techno-dance hot compilation.

When to listen: While watching telenovelas


#25 Escape - Enrique Iglesias
The album that turned me into an Enrique stan! Not much different than his English debut but this is more mature sounding and a whole lotta sexual!

#24 Let Go - Avril Lavigne
Who didnt think that this album is wack? Exactly. None. Everybody jump on the bad girl/bad boy bandwagon as soon as Avril dropped that wack ass Complicated video. Suddenly, all the teenage populace of the planet Earth became an angst-ridden street semi-gangsters.

When to listen: Shoplifting


#23 The Resistance - Muse
Im not a fan of Muse in particular before until I heard this album. I thought it was a bit of digress from their usual sounds but it turned out amazing (and more listenable)!

When to listen: When someone mentions Al Gore or George Bush


#22 In Rainbows - Radiohead
No uber outstanding tracks, not a weak track to be found on the album too -- take note. That's my say.
