I don't even know why every Sam related discussion turns into a debate on whether he's a good enough representation for the LGBT. I personally don't care. I just dislike him because he's an annoying vocalist and a terrible songwriter who can't help but put his foot in his mouth everytime he opens it, including the ****ing Oscars. And that's all. I'd dislike him if he was a straight guy, a straight girl or a lesbian.
And I always side-eye those that scream "self hatred" when Sam is criticized. As if heterosexual celebs get nothing but love and praise here

I don't like him because of that too but I never criticize him because I neither have the right to do nor buy his music.
I don't hate him, but I can see some reasons why. Sam in general is quite ignorant about social issues but uses his homosexuality as a way to seem integrated in them...and it just doesn't work because he generally shows his ass a lot, so I guess you can consider him poor representation. However I'm sure a lot just dislike him because he isn't traditionally attractive, has feminine qualities, and doesn't sing pop music.
They don't hate him. It's just their way of showing STRUGGLE because he is str8 looking bottom and they want to be his little bottoms but they can't...
They only want stars who can penetrate them.
