Nadal losing to Thiem last week and now Cuevas. He can't even vulture ATP 250/500s anymore. Expect a first week exit at Roland Garros; not even the hope of recovering the title on Philippe Chatrier can help him.
Somehow he's still World No. 5. This truly is a weak era for both the ATP and WTA. It's sad not because I dislike some of these players (Serena, Djokovic, Nadal, etc.), but the fact that no new talent seems to springing up, especially on the ATP, is quite disheartening.
At this rate, even an ATP-version of Simona Halep would be great. Despite her annoying fans, she was a revelation on the WTA side -- seemed to be the face of a new generation. But now that we're on the topic of Halep, it's been extraordinarily hilarious to see her precipitous fall. In other words, 2016's Bouchard. Except unlike Genie, I don't think Halep can recover.
And yes, it is disgusting and tragic that Errani has won a Premier. I'm mad Azarenka didn't play Dubai when all the top seeds pulled out and all the other players flopped.
