I'm fine with your reasoning, but I'm not exactly sure why she'd be so motivated to one-up the American boys specifically, as opposed to any other male on the planet. It seems a little more reasonable to me that her label has probably decided that this will be the song they use to introduce her to the American market, thus they would choose to use an American football theme as opposed to some sort of soccer/rugby/cricket scenario.

However, if the intended message really is, as you say, that "Americans suck at the only sport that can exclusively claim as their own," then she's gone and offended a bunch of sports fanatical rednecks. And I can applaud that.
