You're in Florida it seems. Your state won't be up for a little bit but you can go to whatever candidate's website that you support and they should have a tab on where and how to vote in the primary there when it's time. Make sure you're registered in the party you plan to vote in as well.

From what I understand, Cruz is extremely disliked through the GOP establishment. Many articles in December wrote about his then recent surge in the polls with voters despite being "the most hated man in Washington."

I obviously don't keep up to speed with as much of the GOP politics, because I'm not a registered Republican so I couldn't vote in their primaries anyway. But, from the little I've read, he seems to be incredibly disliked.

Rubio would pose the biggest threat against the Democratic nominee, I feel like (out of the popular candidates).

Well the next (most probably) sanctioned debate is in 3 days! MSNBC. Bernie, Hil, Martin, and the DNC seemed to work out the kinks for another debate. Hopefully that'll help you choose. If not that's okay there's at least two additional ones before Florida in March 15, 2016

In an open primary you may choose to vote for whomever's primary you want but you can only vote in one. So a registered democrat such as yourself may vote in the republican primary. You cannot vote in the democratic if you vote in the republican one. And vice versa
