There are vocal powerhouse pop stars, who dominate with the sheer magnitude of their gift; kaleidoscopically vivid pop stars, who dazzle with enthusiasm and energy; diligent pop stars, who chip away at success until they strike oil; cheeky pop stars, who understand the absurdity of the situation but manage to convincingly stay the course.
And there is Rihanna, who is not quite any of these things.
I AM SCREAMING
I swear yesterday the Navy was saying this album was the new "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill"
Omg the lashings New York Times gave her in their review intro
Basically,- we have pop stars with killer Vocals, pop stars who are visionaries with their image and sound, pop stars who work hard to just keep improving their craft then we have Rihanna who is none of those things but somehow got lucky

So basically they are saying there is pop stars like Adele, Madonna and Beyonce and then there is Rihanna?

I feel disgusting reading those ruthless reviews and the ridiculous coments by Bey fans on this thread. But whatever makes you guys sleep at night... I'm already happy with ANTI and it makes me feel so good. It can score a 40 and it still will be her best work so far.
SMH @ all the positive comments being about a "change in direction" or an "artistic revolution" or "passion". Anyone can do something different, dummies. That doesn't automatically make it great.
This will end with a 59.
and yet the ones that are dragging her are the ones that wanted a album full of bops like usual. Don't be a hater, it isn't a good look honey
I'm not too worried about the first set of reviews, especially for this album. The album came out officially less than 24 hours ago, and that was the first anybody heard the album. I don't really think you can properly internalize an album in that amount of time. It's possible that the metascore won't change, but all these initial reviews are just knee jerk reactions to capitalize on the album hype.
