Yes, but it's more often that people say statements like: "Rihanna was bigger than Britney in 2007. FACT." And they're seriously think that's a fact. Saying "someone is bigger" or "has more of an impact" can never be a fact. However, saying "she had 1,000,000 album sales, but artist X had 930,000 sales," is a fact. Anything beyond that would be opinion, even "therefore she was more important."
Anyways, I wouldn't mind the award going to Britney OR Beyoncé. Both would deserve it.

^ Thank you!!
I agree that artist of the year might go to BEP but let's not count out the underdogs Drake ,Taylor and Pitbull ( you never know....). Hell it could MJ for we know.
For the decade, either IMO it would be Mariah, Beyonce, Usher, Eminem, Brit-Brit, OR Kayne West or Lil Wayne. We seriously never know.

I understand what you're trying to say. In other words, Beyonce may have more hot 100 records, but as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, and Madonna are the super-celebs we still recognize today, Britney is the closest to that high level of respect. In 30 years, Britney will be the one up to next to the Fantastic Four, not Beyonce. Just sayin'.

I doubt West has any chance now, no one is supporting him. I could see Rihanna in the running, she accomplished as much as Beyonce in a shorter period of time.

I do some what agree with you about Kanye and Rihanna but Billboard wouldn't care; they'll give it to whomever they felt like just because they had a lot of influcence on the charts i.e Drake for artist of the year. This is the reason I could possibly see them giving the award to Taylor, Pitbull, or Drake; minor players that owned the charts.

At least it's a FACT in their book! That's what they believe. Juz leave them alone. You really should slow down and start being more tolerate. You can't force people to believe in what you believe. Sometimes, people believe what they want to. It's fact!

drake doesnt have a chance in hell.... and pitbull really doesn't either. he's had a great year musically, but he really hasn't made himself a big figure in music.
it will probably come down to mj, gaga, and taylor.

^ Don't forget BEP, please, They owned this year in terms of songs, in terms of albums Taylor did....
At least for me, it's obvious that Gaga ain't gonna be this year's Artist of Billboard...

^ I'm not shading Gaga really, It was an opinion based on facts that for me are clear about this years U.S. album/songs dominancy...
Believe me, I am fan of Gaga... Just because you all see me putting a defense against Gaga it's just to show that I'm on Britney's side on situations I have too...

I think GaGa has just as much as chance as BEP. They pretty much ruled the charts this year.

^ Possibly, I'm not sure but hasn't her sum of digital downloads surpassed BEP's?

Pretty sure. And without a doubt The Fame sold much more than The E.N.D.

Lady GaGa has had more top tens this year.
Poker Face, Paparazzi, LoveGame (Was JD still top ten in 09?) and soon to be Bad Romance.

^ Bad Romance was already Top 10 and Just Dance reached #1 in 2009... Still the fact that BEP spent 26 weeks on #1 weights more than 5 Top tens, at least from my perspective... And also Boom Boom Pow is the best-selling single of the year...
