Lately, i keep seeing this three words, SJW, appearing more and more often. What in god's name is a SJW? These letters are mostly associated with posts about cultural appropriation.
What is happening?

Like, real honest talk. I just read that henna tattoo/cancer patients thread and i find it RIDICULOUS. Is that what a SJW is?

Social justice warrior. People normally use the term to refer to someone who takes social justice way too far and claims racism/sexism/prejudice about everything.

However, its also now used by conservatives to belittle all progressives and not just silly tumblr people.

SJWs are usually great people who fight for social justice, but conservatives note out the most radical left-leaning ones in order to promote their propaganda.

ATRLs definition: someone (usually an ethnic minoritiy) who disagrees with discrimination and feels the need to point it out, they are worse than racists and sexists (anything else expect from homophobes!!)

Why has it become such a big thing to call out anyone with 'cultural appropriation'?

Like, if a white girl has her hair on braids, is she appropriating black culture? Isn't it the exact opposite though? Isn't she showing respect and admiration and interest in black culture? What does a white girl having braids have to gain from that? NOTHING.

People are the first to attack someone for shaming someone else, when in fact, it's THESE kind of people who are personally attacking people for living their life a certain way.
Like, i just don't get it.

if a singer uses my countries culture in one of her songs, videos, i would feel HONORED. Honored that, that person knows about my culture, RESPECTS my culture, and appreciates it enough to use it in her own song.
Why would i feel offended?
