It's a child.
Even people that grew up to identify as "straight", have had one-off same-sex experiences (or more) in their childhood.
Why would you assume your child as straight? Assuming your child is straight also encourages future speak that would convey to your child that you EXPECT them to be straight, even if they're not.
This is psychologically damaging and makes it even harder for being to come out and accept their LGBT status, if they end up not straight.
