It's not about hating pop music. Carly's just isn't good in the slightest.
Take FROOT or Lily Allen's It's not me it's you for example. Both are clear pop record and try to be nothing else. Both very catchy and straight to the point but there is quality and personality in the music.
Carly has no personality, no vocal talent whosoever, one of the most generic tones I've ever heard in my life and there is hardly anything interesting about her lyrics at all.
The 80s flair in the production might be fun to listen to but how does that carry a full record?
