BMG & Sony Club Sales. Her fans always include them with her US album sales, when they shouldn't be included.
In the 90's you could subscribe to either of those for a subscription price per month. Then BMG or Sony (which one you were subscribed to) would send like a magazine of all their albums, and you would be able to mass buy a lot for a very deep discounted price since you were a member.
Like you could get 10 Sony albums for $10. So you were paying next to nothing for albums since you were already paying them money for a membership. That's why Soundscan didn't count the sales.
And yet the Army comes @ Monsters for including Born this Way Amazon sales. Hypocritical.
Is that what it was?
I remember those. It used to be pages towards the middle or the back of most music magazines, and you could get like 9 CDs for $9.99. I remember when I used to ask my mom to call the number on those pages (the pages were rougher than the other magazine pages), and she would say no.
Albums only had certifications that crazy before Soundscan. And I don't think Club Companies existed before Soundscan. They were like only a 90's thing.
But that's why many albums from 90's have certifications millions higher than what they actually sold. They weren't actually sending 3 million copies too much to stores, it was just sold through Club Sales.

Every artist had it, but Bernie Jean stans were doing something else going OUT OF THEIR WAY to include the BMG/Sony sales in her overall total when they shouldn't be included.
Then coming at Gaga for the 99c sales ALL the time...
Soundscan was 1991. The first club order mail company was 1955, I believe
And we come for Gaga's 99 cent albums because the Monsters believe they can arbitrarily multiply her album sales to give her the biggest first-week of all-time
Btw, don't you include Mariah's club sales in her receipts thread?
Not a Mariah Carey stan/ Beyoncé fan trying to come for Columbia House sales when only your faves used reverse-option billing
And you paid a flat-rate to be able to purchase those albums for a discount. I get my FYE CDs for 30% cheaper than the average album because I have a membership. Do they also not count? Clearly the companies stayed in business for 40+ years because those memberships actually ended up costing the average album buyer more than just purchasing the few albums they wanted to buy a year.
This is why I can't stand when people not old enough to get in to clubs try to speak on the musical climate of the late 90s. You literally have no idea what you're talking about
Taylor will be fine, though. It's fun to drag her with Adele because she seemed so unstoppable but her going away will do her very good. She can probably come back in fall 2016 now and slay again whereas just a few months ago it seemed like it would be way too much too soon.
I mean it is Black Friday. Adele coming down and swooping up every media outlet known to man is so good for Taylor tbh
with the Adele hype train riding in from now till summer at least she could feasibly come back in Fall 2016 with no media backlash
Lol poor Eternium and his novels. When Billboard already clocked and proved how unimpressive BOMT sales actually were for their climate regardless
It's been a rough week with "25" scalping her last record of relevance.

Yes, I had to do research. Everyone on this site kept saying "but WAIT, you're not including Club Sales" and nobody actually ever talked about what Club Sales were.

Nope. But a few weeks ago you came into the thread suggesting I do.
