Everyone there drove so crazy, I thought I was going to die every time I got into a car. And there were these giant vans that blasted rap music and had TVs installed playing rap music videos that were like taxis? idk it was so strange.
We were staying at my dad's friends house and it had some open air concept that allowed all these bugs and **** into the house easily. The kitchen was the worst with this, rats were in there often. We slept with bug nets but that didn't bother me since it's normal in many places around the world. (side story: his son came back home with us to visit and when he left we noticed he stole a bunch of our **** lmao)
We visited this place called east leigh where all the somalis (my parents are somali so they were interested in going) are and it was TRAGIC. There was so much garbage on the ground, it smelled like ****, and everyone was shooting judging glares at my sister because she was wearing pants. She told me that she saw someone get killed there but idk if she was just exaggerating or not.
For one of the three weeks we stayed at some resort in Mombasa and it was lit af. We were right next to the shoreline in a beach house. The weather was incredible, we'd just go swimming and lay around all day. The place had servants and cooks that would cook whatever we wanted. I felt like a white person in America.
So I guess it wasn't all bad.
