What I meant is that if you went to an elite prep school, you're probably upper class, so even if you don't go to college you are statistically far more likely to earn a lot more than a middle class person with a doctorate from Harvard.
Besides, the networks you make in high school tend to be stronger than the ones you make in college, especially because most elite schools are K-12 so you've grown up with the people, and if you go to that kind of school, the people you grew up with are the sons of business magnates and the like.
Gaga more than likely got into Tisch partially because they saw she had gone to an elite school on her application.
