I'm appaled it made it past like half of my 10s. I'm appalled it outlasted legit good songs on the album like Devil In a New Dress, Lost in the World and Hell of a Life.
"In California" was described as a love song to Joanna's hometown of Nevada City. In Joanna, her own words: ""That one is a little bit about the strange, sad inner fission that arises from a wonky and vacillating homing instinct, like two warring magnetic fields operating on the same compass." Yeah, that's def how how I'd describe the song too!
The song features vivid instrumentation, which alternates between being bold and more simplistic throughtout the song. Joanna sings "cuckoo" at around an hour into the album, whether this was intentional or not, we may never know.
Best bit: The part at like 5 and a half minutes , it gives me Disney teas. Best lyrics:"I don't belong to anyone / My heart is heavy as an oil drum"
Who's that one indie musician that has a song that's like "**** California! It's bad and people there are mean!" and the background is like a projector of Hollywood stuff. I think Tennis or something. That song is horrible.
