I mean, the fact that the biggest rip-off of the Simpsons (Family Guy) is iconic, well-known, and beloved in its own right speaks volumes. Everyone and their mother knows both shows and can recognize characters and quotes.

Speaking of, they should've done a movie for that show like they did for the Simpsons; not now because the show blows nowadays, but had they done it in like 2006, whew, it would've wiped the floor with the Xtina-Files.

I think The X-Files suffers in part from its inaccessibility: other than the monster-of-the-week episodes, most chain together a very subtle plot that doesn't really climax until the 5th season. Hardly something you can throw re-runs on to your channel and expect people to enjoy.
