The first cull from Have One On Me is from disc one, which you won't be seeing again for a very long time. "No Provenance" finds Joanna singing about how she is kept "safe and warm" in her man's arms. I'm not surprised the song is her first track out, it is pretty subdued and aimless, and it's position between two of the most acclaimed songs on the album was probably the final nail in the coffin. It seems a few of you loved it though!
Best bit: Hmm.. w'll it's a Joanna song so the lyrics are great! Best lyrics: "her faultlessly etiolated fishbelly-face; the muzzle of a ghost."
Esme is apparently the name of Joanna's niece, the daughter of her sister Emily, who is the subject of a song on Ys of the same name. The song had been performed for three years before showing up on Have One On Me.
Best bit: The people gather to say "sweet Esme!" Best lyrics: "I believe love will always surround you /
Brave as a bear with a heart rare and true"
Pretty much everything except Esme + Sinister Kid I wish stayed longer, but I gave them 8s or so, so I'm not that upset or anything. Such a high average so far.
