@ the overuse of in this thread, y'all acting like you aren't perched on social media all damn day.
Why are we acting like she's some kind of hero or pioneer for quitting social media? Like, good for her for wanting to live 'authentically' but people can do so while maintaining a social life online.
Quitting social media means absolutely purging yourself from it, deleting accounts, etc. While her message was good, she's still using the same social media account that she's claimed caused her issues. She still made that video to promote a business, regardless of what the reason is. It's just like those people who announce they are quitting Facebook, but are posting statuses the next day.
That is why I appreciate the generation of people that came before me. Like, my mom does not give a rat's ass about social media or the internet in general. That is something I truly admire.
Such a powerful video. I watched the whole thing and I support everything that she said. It is so sad that we are defined by numbers and likes and followers. I can imagine the pressure to look good and act good 24/7. It is so unhealthy.
And I'm pretty sure she will still use social media but only for personal reasons and exclusive to people who she knows in real life.
I agree. I've been there, and I understand how she's feeling.

I literally just missed the cutoff point where social media got big. honestly I still find it embarrassing to take a "selfie" it just seems so obnoxious
I totally agree with her about social media. It's so fake, forced, and extra. When you have to stage Instagram shoots to seem natural, you need a re-evaluation.
