I would say that if something is factoring into our score, it's mandatory. We were specifically told we did not need to use GIFs from the movie. I'm not sure why the official rules would set us up to LOSE points....
And let's not even get into how gif uniqueness gets more rare if everyone uses gifs from the movie.
There will be a higher chance of teams using the same scene.
Choosing/making the gifs from the movie OR not was up to you guys and I made it optional clearly. And each of you had a different approach.
Now similarly every judge has a different criteria and they can give bonus points for something they like but I'll try and ask them NOT to reduce points if it wasn't in the rules.
Some teams had no problem creating unique, standout entries using gifs from the film and I think that they deserve to be rewarded for doing so. Bonus points galore!

I think it was harder getting appropriate imagery from IO. Some used IO pics but they weren't quite appropriate.
No one should be penalized but those who pushed themselves by using IO pics and gifs and made ATRL posts should be rewarded
