That argument is very convenient but untrue which is why Bernie wouldn't go for it. The plans to leave Iraq were set in motion by Bush before he left office, and requested by the Iraqi government (a sovereign! nation), so it would make sense for the U.S. to leave Iraq to respect established plans and the needs of an established government.

That is why we have diplomats and military advisers to guild a fledgling democracy like the one in Iraq and explain to them why you need to keep the forces there. That is why it is an agreement.
Ryan Crocker our Ambassador to Iraq warned the administration, the pentagon warned them, Leon Panetta warned them, you would think with all these dire warnings coming at you, a much stronger effort would have been made to keep the forces there. By the way, Bush in 2007 even warned him not to pull out to early, just because Bush had plans to do it does not mean it is carved in stone. You need to look at reevaluate.
Base on your logic Obama should be removing all troops from Afghanistan as scheduled but he is not doing that now and you know why, because of what happened in Iraq.
